Domenico Putorti, 73, dies

from the USTA Communications Department

Columbus, OH — Domenico Putorti, 73, died recently.

Mr. Putorti had two loves. First and foremost was his family, mother, father, brothers, sister and their children. Second were animals, especially horses and goats. He was a former member of the USTA and was licensed as an owner and trainer.

He was the caretaker of his parents until they passed away. His brothers were business partners and supporters. Though he never had children his nieces and nephews filled that gap. He teased them and spoiled them as his own.

He was born in Italy, then when he was 14 moved to Canada to be with family. There he learned the painting trade of which he wasn’t fond. But fortunately a brother moved to Gloucester County and they bought a horse farm. He was the horse whisperer before there was a horse whisperer.

He drove an older model red Dodge pick up but always talked of that sports car he was going to get someday.

He is survived by a brother, Antonino; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bruno and Maddalena; brothers, Consolato and Giuseppe; and sister, Filomena Ardea.

Come celebrate 73 years on Tuesday (Jan. 5) at St. Joseph’s Church, Swedesboro, N.J., with calling from 9:30 a.m. and Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Entombment at Hillcrest Mausoleum, Washington Twp.
