Filion and Moreau honored for 2015 titles

Toronto, ON — Fresh off fantastic 2015 seasons, Sylvain Filion and Richard Moreau were recognized Saturday night (Jan. 2) at Woodbine Racetrack.

Richard Moreau and Sylvain Filion received framed photographs in recognition of their 2015 seasons.

Filion led all drivers on the Woodbine/Mohawk circuit in 2015 with 320 victories and more than C$6.2 million in earnings. The Milton, Ontario resident finished 101 wins ahead of Doug McNair in second place.

Filion split his 320 wins evenly between Woodbine and Mohawk with 160 at each track.

Similar to the driver’s category, Richard Moreau was a runaway winner for top trainer. The Puslinch, Ontario resident won 149 races in 2015, 34 more than runner-up Carmen Auciello. Moreau’s trainees earned more than C$2.6 million.

Both Filion and Moreau were honored in the winner’s circle following Saturday’s first race. The Woodbine Entertainment Group was pleased to present both individuals with framed photographs in recognition of their accomplishments.

Filion and Moreau have both been named finalists in their respective categories for the 2015 O’Brien Awards.
