Ashes Cash won the feature race in 1:54, a new lifetime mark, on Wednesday at Dover Downs.

In the feature, Callahan moved Ashes Cash to the outside and came fast to the finish line in 1:54. It was a time equaling lifetime mark for the Cash Hall-Ashameg gelding. It was the Leigh Raymer-owned and trained 5-year-old’s eighth win of the season lifting his earnings to $43,495. Blue Reverend (George Dennis), a top Indiana stakes performer and Hemi Seelster (Ross Wolfenden), who raced in major events in Ontario, finished second and third respectively.

Machuca guided by Allan Davis for owner-trainer Bob Shahan’s Machuca, one of two 3-year-olds in the race, scored in 1:57.3 to win the co-featured $15,500 3,4&5-Year-Old trot. The victory was the fourth of the campaign for the Yankee Glide-Tail Of Night gelding. Someway Same Hall (Art Stafford Jr.) was second with Myclaimtovictory (Kim Vincent) third.

In the 11th race, a Filly and Mare pace, Hotwire (Tony Morgan) suddenly went down at the 3/8th pole causing confusion with the seven other horses in the race. When the field turned down the homestretch heading for the crowded finish line, the race was declared a ‘No Contest’ and all wagers on the event were reimbursed. Both horse and driver were reported as not injured.

Dover Downs races Monday through Thursday with post time, 4:30 p.m. There is no live racing Friday’s, Saturdays and Sundays.
