Astreo’s Love is fond of Dayton Raceway

from Hollywood Dayton Raceway

Dayton, OH — Astreo’s Love traveled from Greenfield, Ind., to Dayton, Ohio, for the second straight week since his home base of Hoosier Park closed and the result is he’s now “two in a row in O-Hi-O.”

The 5-year-old son of Make My Day captured a top conditioned pace a week ago and promptly stepped up into Open company this Saturday (Nov. 28) with the same result.

Driver Lewayne Miller sped the favorite to the front of the compact six-horse field, stopping the first two timer beams in :27.2 and :56.2 over a track rated sloppy due to persistent rain all day long. Sports Sinner (Dan Noble), assigned the outside post position off two straight Open wins, ranged up on the outside and stuck a neck in front by the 1:24.3 three-quarter marker, but Astreo’s Love battled back on the inside to regain the lead midway through the stretch and stopped the clock almost a length to the good in 1:53. J’s Six Pak Attack (Jeremy Smith) was best of the rest.

Trainer Don Eash’s Eash Racing Stable owns the winner, who now sports nine wins in 2015 and seasonal earnings of $121,681.

In other news, the Racing Department at Hollywood Gaming at Dayton Raceway has been notified they beat six other departments at the facility in the company’s second annual Dayton Food Bank drive. With the help of local horsemen, the Racing Department collected and donated a total of 732 pounds of canned goods and other foodstuffs to the Dayton Food Bank, a scant ten pounds more than the runner-up Facilities Department.

For the generous effort, Hollywood Gaming will throw a free pizza party for the Racing Department and local horsemen on a designated night in December.
