Hanover, PA — Artspeak p,2,1:50.2; 3,1:47.4 ($1,625,869), last year’s Dan Patch and O’Brien 2-year-old Pacing Colt of the Year and this season’s fastest 3-year-old pacing colt, will stand his first season at stud in 2016 at Hanover Shoe Farms in Pennsylvania.

His fee has been set at $5,000. He is presently being syndicated, and shares will be available to breeders on a first-come, first-served basis.

In making today’s announcement, Hanover president Jim Simpson said that Artspeak makes a perfect addition to Hanover’s stallion lineup.

“The fact that he’s among the best sons of Western Ideal played a lot into the decision,” Simpson said. “Although Western Ideal is still siring at the highest level, it’s nice to have a great son of his to carry on a breeding cross that’s worked so well for so many through the years.

“Western Ideal is already a proven sire of sires, and we think Artspeak can take that siring ability to the next level.”

Artspeak, out of the Artsplace mare The Art Museum, was trained by Tony Alagna and driven by Scott Zeron throughout his career. He was 2014’s richest 2-year-old pacing colt with $742,185 and took wins in the $667,000 Metro, $565,000 Governor’s Cup, Bluegrass and four other stakes that season en route to his championship title.

His signature win came perhaps this year in the $450,000 Tattersalls Pace in Lexington, where he defeated a stellar field in 1:47.4 to secure his lifetime record and just miss the year’s fastest mile by a fifth of a second. After winning his Breeders Crown elim, he ended the season with a second-place finish in the $531,250 final.
