Harrington, DE — Assuming Hurricane Joaquin continues on its projected path east of the Mid-Atlantic, the first 2-year-old stakes of the year for Delaware sired horses will get underway Monday (Oct. 5) at Harrington Raceway.

Four divisions of filly pacers will go to post Monday, slated as the third, fifth, ninth and 10th races on the 13-race program.

The fastest thus far, though she hasn’t made a pari-mutuel start to date, would be Mr Apples-sired Apple Bottom Jeans (3-1, Montrell Teague), who comes off a sporty 1:55.2 triumph in a qualifier at Harrah’s Philadelphia on Sept. 15 for trainer Kevin Switzer.

Pacing colts and geldings will have their turn on Tuesday with three divisions, while both sexes of trotters will compete on Wednesday in two divisions apiece.

The newly dubbed Delaware Showcase night on Oct. 21 will display the top performers from the two rounds of elimination races in four $100,000 final events and $20,000 consolations.

Live racing continues Monday through Thursday with a 5:30 p.m. post time.
