Chester, PA — Sam Beegle, President of the Pennsylvania Harness Horsemen’s Association, announced today that the Board of Directors selected Peter J. Marinari as Executive Director following a national search.

Marinari has served as manager for the Pennsylvania Harness Racing Commission at Harrah’s Philadelphia since 2011. He is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania.

“We are pleased to welcome Peter to our team at a crucial time in the development of our industry,” said Beegle. “His multifaceted and wide-ranging experience in racing, organizational management and government relations make him an excellent fit for the position. We look forward to his contributions to our organization.”

Marinari succeeds Ron Battoni, who has been the PHHA’s Executive Director since 1987. Battoni will remain with the organization in a reduced capacity as a consultant, focusing on stakes racing and special events.

“I’ve worked closely with Peter for a number of years,” said Battoni. “I have every confidence this will be a seamless transition, and that our mission to provide a stable foundation for horsemen will be in good hands.”
