Delicious trots a new world record in Sweden

She did it again! The 6-year-old mare Delicious, driven by Ôrjan Kihlström, won the Sundsvall Open Trot over the 1-5/16th mile distance at Bergsaker in Northern Sweden in a new world record of 1:52.3f (mile rate).

A fortnight ago, Delicious trotted a new world record of 1:50.2f over the mile and now she posted another new world record performance.

After Creatine with Johnny Tater and Royal Fighter with Jennifer Tillman had a battle for the lead and opened in :26.1, Creatine took command, while Delicious was last in the field.

Going around the last corner Creatine tired and Kihlström made his move, but still had a lot of ground to make up on the leaders.
But down the stretch Delicious was flying on the outside and went around the field to win by 3-1/2 lengths, followed by On Track Piraten driven by Torbjörn Jansson and Ringostarr Treb driven by Wim Paal.

The purse for the winner was $120,.000.

Delicious is sired by Cantab Hall and out of the Italian mare Ipsara LB. She is raised and bred by Lindy Farms. In the United States she was campaigned by Ron Gurfein and won eight races from 23 starts. She took a mark of 1:52.2 and earned $254,244.

As a yearling she was old under the name Ferrari Lindy for $8,000; that name has turned out to be quite appropriate for her now!

The big Swedish stable Stall Zet bought Delicious at Harrisburg in 2012 for $100,000. She is trained by Daniel Redén, who is a private trainer for the Zet Stable organization.
