Budweiser Clydesdales at Pocono this weekend

Wilkes-Barre, PA — The world-renowned Budweiser Clydesdales are in town to help The Downs at Mohegan Sun Pocono celebrate their 50th anniversary.

On Friday (Aug. 14) and Saturday (Aug. 15), the majestic horses will promenade on the famous five-eighths-mile oval during live racing. Fans are welcome to come out and see the Clydesdales eight-horse hitch and Barley, their Dalmation mascot.

On Saturday, from 6-7:30 p.m., fans may have their photo taken with the entire hitch for a $5 donation to Marley’s Mission, the charity providing equine-based therapy to children who have suffered trauma. This is a wristband-only event, and wristbands will be distributed at 4 p.m. on the Sky Bridge. The Clydesdales will enter the track apron closest to the Paddock for their photo opportunity, and then go on the track immediately after.

The 50th anniversary celebration continues next week. On Tuesday and Wednesday (Aug. 18-19), we are “Rolling Back the Prices” to 1965 on hot dogs, soft drinks, popcorn, and live racing programs. The live racing program cover will be the actual cover from opening night in 1965, and that will be for sale all week.

Also for sale is “The Golden Era of Pocono Downs,” the special commemorative book with photos, statistics, and stories about the 50 years of the famous track in Northeast PA. The price is $3, and it is available at the program stand.

We look forward to seeing fans from the past and present all week to help celebrate this milestone, and thank everyone for their loyal patronage over the years. Here’s to another 50!
