Scarborough, ME — Cat Has A Kitten kept her perfect sophomore season intact on Sunday (Aug. 2) as the graceful Maine-bred won her fifth consecutive start and her fourth in a row in Maine Sire Stakes competition.

Cat Has A Kitten was a 1:57.2 winner.

Deftly handled by driver Heath Campbell, the 3-year-old daughter of Western Cyclone-Lady Katie pounced to the lead just past the half and then proceeded to toy with the competition, like a calico would a captured mouse, before extending out to a 3-1/2 length margin at the wire in a more than adequate time of 1:57.2.

The “ferocious feline,” owned in tandem by Anthony Sivik Jr. and the KDK Standardbreds and who is trained by noted stakes conditioner Valerie Grondin, claimed the lion’s share of the $12,462 purse.

Eat Your Enemy (John Nason) saw her own undefeated season come to a conclusion while settling for the runner-up placing while Ms Casey Mac (Gary Mosher) held firm for the show.

Live racing is proudly featured at Scarborough Downs on Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 4:30 p.m. (EDT). The Sunday matinee gets underway at 1:30 p.m. For more information, visit www.ScarboroughDowns.com or our Facebook page.
