from Running Aces

Columbus, MN — Driver Luke Plano scored a hat trick at Running Aces on Wednesday night (July 15), bringing his win total up to 20 after 20 nights of the current 53-night meet.

The 35-year-old blue and white-clad reinsman started his night with an upset win behind Brandi Mayree, who actually finished second but was placed first after being interfered with in the stretch. Brandi Mayree is owned by the Little Bapa LLC Stable and is trained by George Reider.

Plano followed up with a pair of back-to-back victories in fillies and mares conditioned races from his own stable. Becky B Skipalong topped Wild About Eagle (Steve Wiseman) and Dakota Law (Nick Roland) in 1:55.1, then High Bet Hanover was victorious over Hotmones (Roland) and Bad Feeling (Dean Magee) in 1:55.2. Both mares are owned by K C Carvolho.

Brandi Mayree paid $26.20 to win, Becky B Skipalong returned $30.20 and High Bet Hanover paid $6.40 as the second choice.
