Herbert Miller, 84, dies

Columbus, OH — Herbert L. Miller, 84, of Clifton, Ohio, died June 30, 2015, with his family by his side.

Mr. Miller was born in Alpha, Ohio, to Howard and Retta (Ashbaugh) Miller. He was a 1948 graduate of Fairborn High School.

He was a farmer and became an avid harness horseman in 1966. He raced all over the United States and Canada. In his career he won top horseman and many other accolades and achievements to his name and stable.

Mr. Miller is survived by his wife of 65 years, Joyce; daughter, Lorry (Thomas) Larose; son, Ronald; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sons Mark and Matt; brothers, Ralph and Marv; and his parents.

He had a rough side but had a soft heart. Mr. Miller was a hard worker and he opened his home up to many people to live on the farm. He has left behind many family traditions of making homemade ice cream and oyster stew, and instilled a firm work ethic in his family. He was a wonderful man that was loved by all and will be greatly missed.
