HTA scholarship application deadline approaching

Northfield, OH — At least $15,000 in 2015-16 college scholarships are on the line for sons and daughters of harness racing participants throughout the United States and Canada.

The annual Harness Tracks of America program has dispensed 208 grants to 141 different students for a total of $778,950 since its beginning in 1973. The scholarships are based on academic merit, financial need and active harness racing involvement.

Last year’s six winners hailed from five different states: Alleysha Reynolds of Duryea, Pa. (Delaware Valley College), Lyndsay Hagemeyer, Clarksville, Ohio (University of Cincinnati), Thomas Hundertpfund, Magnolia, Del. (Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University), Thomas Wine, Coconut Creek, Fla. (Broward College), Jennifer Lauer, Hightstown, N.J. (East Stroudsburg University) and Maxwell Auerbach, Glen Rock, N.J. (University of Maryland).
