Busy night at The Meadowlands this Saturday

from the Meadowlands Media Relations Department

East Rutherford, NJ — The Meadowlands has 13 live races on Saturday (June 27) with a number of supporting promotions planned as well.

On the track, there is a solid wagering card with the lure of the Hi-5 Jackpot wagers now both (races five and 13) well into six figures. There’s a new face in for the evening with top WEG driver Paul MacDonell making a rare New Jersey appearance. He’ll drive trainer Mark Ford’s stock and caught some other work over the course of the evening.

Via simulcast you’ll be able to watch and wager on The Downs at Mohegan Sun Pocono hosting four sets of stakes eliminations for the upcoming Sun Stakes Saturday finals next week.

Off the track, it’s roll back concession night with $1 specials and the finals of the Ms Hot To Trot contest featuring a bevy of bathing beauties vying for the $5,000 top prize and the dazzling tiara that accompanies the title.

Legendary jockey Braulio Baeza will be “In the Sulky” with Bob “Hollywood” Heyden during the pre-race show, then heading to the apron for a meet and greet, chatting with Thoroughbred fans of yesteryear and signing autographs from 7-8 p.m. Baeza is a Hall of Fame rider and winner of the 1963 Derby with Chateaugay. He rode the legendary Dr. Fager to his 1:32.1 mile world record that has stood since 1968 and was aboard Foolish Pleasure in that one’s 1975 match race with the ill-fated Ruffian.

Another promotion of interest is a handicapping seminar featuring Daily Racing Form expert “The Wizard” who will be peeling back the curtain on his handicapping prowess.

Racing kicks off at 7:15 p.m.
