HTA Scholarship Awards announced

Northfield, OH — Harness Tracks of America and David Snyder, president of International Sound Corporation, are pleased to announce the renewal of the HTA Scholarship Awards for the 2015-2016 academic year.

The annual program offers $15,000 in scholarships for post-secondary education to daughters and sons of licensed trainers, drivers, caretakers and management personnel, or young people themselves who are actively engaged in the harness racing industry.

Deadline for application submissions is July 10.

Inaugurated in 1973 by the late HTA Executive Vice President Stan Bergstein, the scholarship program trustees have awarded 208 grants totaling $778,950 to 141 college and advanced degree students.

The Snyder Family and ISC, providers of racetrack and sport facility video, graphics and audio services to more than 100 U.S. and international clients, have been the primary benefactors of the fund.

Significant monetary assistance also has come from the Tioga Horsemen’s Association, Jeff Gural and Jason Settlemoir of the New Meadowlands and Chris McErlean, an HTA Scholarship alumnus and current senior executive at Penn National Gaming.
