Monticello, NY — As the start of the New York Sire Stakes program is right around the corner, Monticello Raceway will be offering prep races for NYSS/Excelsior eligible horses.

“We will be drawing Wednesday (April 29) for Monday (May 4), for our first prep race; the purse for these events will be $4,500; our first Sire Stake/Excelsior event is on Monday (May 11),” noted Monticello Race Secretary Eric Warner.

The first prep race will be for 3-year-old trotting colts.

“With some of the top 3-year-old trotting colts starting to qualify lately, these races may fit perfectly in their schedule,” said Warner.

Monticello Raceway’s post time is 12:50 p.m. for its Monday through Thursday schedule. The 50 cent Pick-5 wager is held in races three-seven.
