Apostles Creed captures Dexter Cup elimination

Columbus, OH — Apostles Creed rallied from fourth place at the top of the stretch to win the $44,400 Dexter Cup elimination for 3-year-old trotters on Saturday (April 25) at Freehold Raceway.

Brett Miller was in the bike for trainer Jimmy Takter as the son of Credit Winner-Religulous stopped the timer in 1:59.4. Apostles Creed is owned by Christina Takter, John and Jim Fielding, Joyce McClelland and Herb Liverman.

Divisionist (Charlie Norris) finished second, one length behind the winner, while HA Taylor (Jordan Stratton) finished third. Bavaro was fourth for trainer/driver Ray Schnittker.

The top four finishers in the elimination will join Broken Record, Gabe The Bear Dean, Habitat, and Sixteen Encores in the $133,170 Dexter Cup final — the first stakes test on the road to August’s Hambletonian — on May 2 at Freehold. Those four horses received byes based on lifetime earnings.
