A foggy night in Yonkers Town

Yonkers, NY — It’s never simple being Yonkers Raceway track announcer John Hernan and even less so Monday night (April 20). Hernan plied his craft through a dense fog, which made the setting more suited for ghosts and spirits than pacers and trotters.

The first race gets underway on a foggy night at Yonkers.

Track photographer Mike Lizzi captured the start of the evening’s first race, which was eventually won by Disarrei (Mark MacDonald, $8.40) in a life-best 1:54.3.

The Raceway’s live schedule continues with a French-centric Tuesday (1 p.m., third round of YR/SOA of NY Bonus Trotting Series), then Thursday through Saturday (all at 7:10 p.m.).

Saturday features the two richest North American harness races of the season to date, the $529,000 final of the George Morton Levy Memorial Pacing Series and $261,000 final of the Blue Chip Matchmaker.

Evening simulcasting is available around all nighttime programs, with afternoon simulcasting daily.
