Jerry Lee Hall, 77, dies

Columbus, OH — Jerry Lee Hall, 77, of West Portsmouth, Ohio, died April 2, 2015, at SOMC Hospice.

Mr. Hall was born Aug. 22, 1937, in Scioto County to the late William and Creola McAllister Hall. He was a United States Army veteran and the owner and operator of Hallmarke Farms. He was known as the “Gate Man.”

Mr. Hall raised and bred Standardbreds and was also very involved with 4H.

Prior to his farming, he drove a truck for Artley’s Dress Shops all over the eastern part of the United States. He owned and operated his own trucking company, and was a former auctioneer.

He also attended Bethel United Methodist Church.

Mr. Hall is survived by his wife, Patsy Sue Hodge, who he married on Jan. 21, 1961 at Bethel Church; daughters, Debra, Lisa (Barry) Davis and Michelle; brother, Robert; sisters, Judith Stevenson and Vicki Walker; and grandchildren, Nathan Davis, Jacob Davis and Noah Hall-Williams. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Alice.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Tuesday (April 7) at Bethel United Methodist Church in West Portsmouth with Rick Phillips officiating. Interment will be in Friendship Cemetery with graveside military rites by the James Dickey Post 23 American Legion. Friends may call at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth from 5-8 p.m. on Monday (April 6) and one hour prior to the service at the church.
