Here Comes Numbers prevails in Open Trot at Saratoga

Saratoga Springs, NY — Here Comes Numbers (Here Comes Herbie) prevailed in Sunday’s $17,000 Open Trot at Saratoga Casino and Raceway.

Here Comes Numbers was a 1:57.3 winner.

Jim Morrill Jr. piloted the Ron Burke-trained 7-year-old to a front running score in the matinee’s featured race. Here Comes Numbers stopped the timer in 1:57.3 while scoring by open lengths over Red Hot Herbie (Billy Dobson) who was the runner-up. Waiting On A Woman (Frank Coppola Jr.) earned the show spot in his return.

Here Comes Numbers paid $8.40 to win and led an exacta that returned $63 and a trifecta that came back $227.50.

Morrill and Burke also teamed up to win the Saturday night feature with Statesman N.

Live racing resumes on Thursday with a 4 p.m. first post time for the twilight racing card.

Dover Downs
Osceola Gold stepped up a class and won his third in a row, taking the $15,000 claiming pace on Sunday at Dover Downs. It was one of two wins for Tony Morgan who now has 14,987 career winning drives. After racing for a $10,000 tag all meet long, Osceola Gold won back-to-back efforts and then took on the $15,000 claimers successfully. Morgan moved the 10-year-old altered son of Sharky Spur-Hook And Ladder up on the outside in front of the grandstand. Osceola Gold rushed into the lead heading to the three-quarters and then opened up a lead on the way to 1:53.4 victory. Owned and trained by Jeanmarie Kurowski, the win was the gelding’s third of the year with two seconds and two thirds in seven outings. It was the 38th score in his career, lifting his lifetime earnings to $243,577. Sir Globalop Z Tam (Eddie Davis Jr.) was runner-up. Cash Cab (Allan Davis) finished third.
