I’m Feelin Good gets fourth straight win in Meadows feature

Washington, PA — I’m Feelin Good had captured three straight races with gritty first-over moves, but could he possibly use the same strategy to extend his streak to four?

Indeed he could, as his determined move for Tony Hall wore down the leader, Shooter’s Dream, and carried him to victory in Wednesday’s (Jan 14) $20,000 Winners Over $10,000 Life/Preferred Handicap Pace at The Meadows. Dew N Doughnuts shot the Lightning Lane for second, a neck back, while Desperation rallied for show. Time for the mile was 1:53.3, including a snappy back half in 55.4.

Ashley Hall trains I’m Feelin Good, a 7-year-old Mr Feelgood-I’m-The-Goto-Girl gelding who extended his career bankroll to $526,454, for Larry Fischer.

Dan Rawlings piloted three winners on the 15-race card.

Northfield Park
Longshot players were ecstatic as the horses crossed the finish of Northfield Park’s fifth race on Wednesday (January 14) when Bethann swooped up from the back to win at odds of 62-1. Robert Slowey of Mentor, Ohio owns the 5-year-old trotter. Trainer James Criss Jr. enlisted the driving services of Ryan Stahl. Wednesday’s win was Bethann’s first lifetime score and second career start. Bethann was followed across the wire by Chipsswingingstar (57-1) and Parris Island (35-1). Bethann returned $125.00 to win; the 7-5 Exacta paid $734.80 and the 7-5-4 Trifecta returned a whopping $12,349.20. Although Bethann’s score sparked massive returns, it is not even close to being the highest win payoff in Northfield Park’s history. That record remains with Jet’s Appearance and driver Sheri Hersman. They paid $579 to win on August 22, 1988.

Dover Downs
Tough Mac lived up to his name romping to a 1:53.4 victory in the feature $13,000 Winners-Over trot on Wednesday, Jan.14 at Dover Downs. With Corey Callahan driving from post one, Tough Mac controlled the fractions on the way to his second straight impressive victory for owner Mike Casalino. The win was the 12th lifetime for the Lockkeeper-Traditional Lady gelding, now a $138,144 career winner. Baximum (Allan Davis) was runner-up. Prayer Session (Jonathan Roberts) was the show horse.
