SRF’s 12 Days of Giving receives $4,000 sponsorship

from the Standardbred Retirement Foundation

Millstone Township, NJ — The Standardbred Retirement Foundation’s 12 Days of Giving campaign winds down with a very special gift of a $4,000 sponsorship for SRF’s upcoming Elitlopp raffle from Arch Madness owners Marc and Marcia Goldberg.

“It just seems like the right thing to do especially because Arch won the Elitlopp (elimination in 2011). We’ll sponsor the trip for you,” Marc Goldberg said.

“We are so fortunate to have friends like the Goldbergs who love these horses and appreciate what they have given them,” shared Judy Bokman, SRF’s Executive Director. “This gift will go a long way in our fund raising efforts.

“Having “Archie” Arch Madness as our sponsor is so fitting and exciting!”

The campaign started with a lifetime retirement for one at Diamond Creek Farm and she arrived just in time for Christmas Eve dinner at their Kentucky farm. Tom and Mary Ellen Valeri donated $1,000 to insulate and heat the tack room that serves as the trainer’s office. Brett Coffey donated $120 for shoes for one horse with an injury; and there was a surprise gift of $600 from an anonymous donor which will provide a visit from the dentist for 12 horses at $50 each.

A $500 gift was gratefully received from Dale Wyatt and will go towards the transportation and quarantine of one horse tagged for slaughter and the Kuchar Family and Kathy Soler each donated $400 for the rehabilitation of a saved horse from slaughter. These three gifts have already been put to work for a horse named Blogger.

Dr. Joy Micale generously gave $550 for therapeutic shoes for horses in need and SRF has a few of them who will be unwrapping that soon. Badlands Racing gifted $500, as well as Sharon Sampson.

While we are still short a new horse sponsor for 2015 to rest one in need of total retirement, and a cover for our training area, SRF expressed tremendous appreciation for the support of the campaign.

“We cannot even fill a feed tub without our wonderful donors; each and every one makes a difference and we are so grateful,” said Paula Campbell, SRF’s President.

The campaign closes today but SRF’s need for continued support will continue as 198 Standardbreds are under our full care, all hoping for homes. Gifts are tax-deductible.
