Mississauga, ON — After a brave fight against cancer, longtime Standardbred owner and friend to harness racing Gordon Rumpel, 85, of Calgary, Alta., died Dec. 8, 2014.

Mr. Rumpel is most frequently associated with two Hall of Fame pacers: On The Road Again and Matt’s Scooter.

He is survived by his son, Glen (Erin); grandchildren, Sara (Kyle), Matthew and Lucas; and great-grandson, Henry. He was preceded in death by his wife, Illa; and son, Jimmy.
