Ebbert Quinn, 84, dies

Columbus, OH — Ebbert L. “Ed” Quinn, 84, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, died Nov. 27, 2014, at Grant Medical Center in Columbus.

He was born May 23, 1930, in Pleasant Hill, Ohio, to the late Albert and Lucille (Swartz) Quinn. He was a United States Army Korean Conflict veteran, a retired heavy equipment operator with Ohio Operating Engineers Local 18 and a Standardbred trainer.

Mr. Quinn was a member of the United States Trotting Association and Ohio Operating Engineers Local 18.

He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He had a great love of horses and had trained Standardbreds since 1949 and for 30-plus years at the Croton Fairgrounds.

He is survived by his son, Keith (Tina); grandchildren, Danielle, Marc and Devin; two great-grandchildren; brothers, Johnny and Jack; and sister, Mary Alice “Bid” Wojciechowski. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara; brother, Paul; and sister, Mabel Wojciechowski.

Friends may call Friday (Dec. 5) from 4-8 p.m. at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, SR 3 at 61, Sunbury, where services will be held Saturday (Dec. 6) at 11 a.m. with officiating. Interment with Military Honors by the Delaware County Veteran Association will follow in the Trenton Cemetery.
