Weidman/Randall win pair at Saratoga

Saratoga Springs, NY — Trainer Jody Weidman and driver Jay Randall teamed up for a pair of winners on the Tuesday card at Saratoga Casino and Raceway.

The Vernon Downs-based Weidman has always done well when he has brought members of his stable to the Spa over the last several years and he tallied a trainer’s double with conditioned trotters Ozymandias (Crazed) and Bluebird Jamaican (Southwind Elian).

Ozymandias was his race’s 1-5 betting favorite as he dropped in class and had little trouble swooping the group to prevail in a seasonal best 1:58.4. Bluebird Jamaican overcame a first over journey to win a photo in 2:00.

Each of the Weidman trainee’s victories came in $4,000 conditioned trotting races.

Live racing continues on Wednesday night at Saratoga with a first post time of 7:05 p.m.
