Ulster was a winner in 1:59.2.

The 3-year-old Ulster inherited the rail after a scratch of one of his rivals and wound up getting a two hole trip behind LG’s Pride (Jordan Derue) who was making his local debut.

Ulster sailed by in the stretch to record a lifetime best win in 1:59.2 in the evening’s $6,500 featured race. LG’s Pride was the race’s runner-up while Master Act (Stephane Bouchard) came on to finish third.

Ulster, who is trained by Joe Facin Jr., went off at odds of 9-2.

Live racing continues at Saratoga on Wednesday night when the New York Sire Stakes come to town with 2-year-old filly trotters featured.

Tuesday night’s ninth race featured trot saw track record hold Whitewater Rapids show why he has career earnings of nearly $245,000 as he was able to grind it out to the lead by the half-mile marker and then hold the field at bay to win by two open lengths in 1:58.3. Owned, trained and driven to victory by Guy Gagnon, the 6-year-old stallion by Credit Winner had little trouble racing first-over from the start against pacesetter Next To Go (Denis St. Pierre) to the opening quarter-mile in :28.3 and then to the half-mile in :59.1 before taking over before the three-quarters in 1:29 and then breezing home for the victory. Next To Go head for second place and Erge Baboche (Stephane Brosseau), who closed with a burst of speed to win this race last week, could only come on for third place. It was the 11th career win for Whitewater Rapids, who paid a generous $3.70 to win as the betting favorite. Back in June he set the track record for older stallions with a 1:57.1 triumph.
Due to the Grand Prix auto race that goes throughout the town of Trois- Rivieres and is at the Hippodrome 3R next week, there will be no live harness racing at the track this coming Sunday and the following Tuesday.
