Toronto, ON — Guelph, Ontario based trainer Dr. Ian Moore won’t have much time to relax this long holiday weekend as he has horses racing in stakes events across Ontario and beyond.

Saturday (Aug. 2) at the Meadowlands, on the famed Hambletonian Day, Moore starts his star free for all performer State Treasurer in the $257,700 U.S. Pacing Championship (race five). The 5-year-old has been enjoying a stellar season to date with seven wins in 10 starts for $215,679 in earnings ($689,975 lifetime).

Moore, a native of PEI, also has several Ontario Sires Stakes starters on the docket this weekend. Sunday afternoon (Aug. 3) he starts Shadows Wonder in the third of four C$18,000 OSS Grassroots divisions for 3-year-old pacing fillies at Clinton Raceway.

Shadows Wonder is a daughter of Moore’s former champion, Shadow Play. She is owned by the same partnership, Moore, R G McGroup Ltd. and former NHL great Serge Savard.

Shadows Wonder comes into the contest off a 1:54.4 effort in the lastest Grassroots event at Mohawk on July 25. She’s quite familiar with the Clinton surface having captured the $61,852 Kin final at the picturesque track last month. Moore’s son Tyler will be at the lines behind the filly who starts from post eight in the seventh race.

The sophomore pacing fillies are also on display this weekend at Mohawk where they’ll square off in two C$105,000 Gold events. Moore’s starter here is another Shadow Play daughter, Brookdale Shadow, who has post six in the second division, race 10. The filly finished second in her two most recent starts, the Canadian Breeders Championship elimination and final, also at Mohawk.

That race comes after Moore’s team has competed at Industry Day at Grand River Raceway on Monday afternoon (Aug. 4). Moore has a pair of starters in the OSS Gold divisions for 3-year-old pacing colts, part of the Battle of Waterloo undercard. Both are also sons of Shadow Play with Maritime ownership, Play It Again Sam and Silverhill Shadow.

In the main event, the C$217,140 Battle of Waterloo final, Moore starts Supersonic Jet, a son of Jereme’s Jet. Purchased as a yearling by Paul Smith and Emmons MacKay for $10,000, the colt was developed by MacKay at Truro Raceway before being sent to Moore in Ontario.

Paul MacKenzie, another fellow Maritime native, will be at the lines for Moore in the Battle final, race 12 on Monday afternoon’s card.
