Gold splits to Prince Clyde and Jet Airway

Campbellville, ON — Prince Clyde and Jet Airway were victorious in two $97,650 Ontario Sires Stakes Gold divisions for 3-year-old pacing colts on Monday night (July 28) at Mohawk.

The first and fastest division saw a number of lead changes. Boomboom Ballykeel took the field past the opening quarter in :26 but he was soon covered up by Victor Bayama who was overtaken by Silverhill Shadow before the half in :53.3. That colt remained on top by the three-quarters in 1:22.1.

Down the lane Speckled Door took over briefly but in the late going James MacDonald had Prince Clyde rolling and that colt hit the wire first in 1:50.3. Speckled Door held for second while Silverhill Shadow took third.

It was the fourth win in 11 tries this year for Prince Clyde, a son of Camluck-Tymal Princess trained by Anthony Montini for owners Holland Racing Stable and Albina Montini.

In the second split Three Of Clubs took the field by the opening quarter in :27.1 and was at the half in :56 and three-quarters in 1:23.3. Down the lane Randy Waples had Jet Airway flying late to reach the wire first in 1:51.2 over Play It Again Sam and Three Of Clubs.

It was the fourth win in 10 starts this year for the Jereme’s Jet-Aromatic son trained by Erv Miller who co-owns with Tangie Massey, Paul Sunderhaus and Larry Agle.
