Harrington, DE — The draw for Harrington Raceway’s richest program of the year, the annual Governor’s Day program (July 24) during the Delaware State Fair, is set for Monday (July 21).

The entry box will close at 10 a.m.

Horsemen are currently able to enter in advance online or by calling the race office at 302.398.5970 on the morning of the draw. There is a special 7 p.m. post time for the July 24 program.

Approximately $600,000 in total purses will be distributed over the program, including four $100,000 Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund final events for 3-year-olds. Consolation races for the DSBF races will also be contested.

The headliner for older horses has always been the $40,000 Governor’s Cup for pacers, which features the top eight Delaware owned money earning pacers who are properly entered. The Honorable Governor Jack Markell will once again be on hand to present the trophy to the winning connections. The First State’s top distaff pacers compete in the $30,000 Legislator’s Cup, while the top trotters will go postward in the $30,000 Charles Murphy Memorial.

A 13-race program is expected, contingent on entries.

The Delaware State Fair begins July 17 and runs through July 26. Harrington Raceway’s summer/fall meet will resume on a Monday through Thursday schedule beginning August 18.
