Pearl D. Kirby, 91, dies

Dover, DE — Pearl D. Kirby, age 91, of Milford, passed away Tuesday, June 24, 2014 in her home. Mrs. Kirby was born in Lincoln, daughter of the late George W. and Lavina (Watson) Dickerson.

Mrs. Kirby was a dedicated lifelong member of Christ Episcopal Church in Milford. She was also a proud member of the U.S. Trotting Association and Delaware Standardbred Owners Association. She spent her working life as a homemaker. Aside from caring for her loved ones and household, she also enjoyed caring for her horses and in the 60s held a trainer’s license. She especially enjoyed Towner’s April and Towner’s Missy who she raced with her grandson, driver, Victor Kirby.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Kirby is preceded in death by her loving husband, Vinal Kirby.

She is survived by a daughter, Sharon Kirby; and one grandson, Victor Kirby, both of Milford; two nieces and two nephews.

A graveside funeral will be held on Friday, June 27, 2014 at 11:00am at Milford Community Cemetery, North Walnut Street, Milford, DE 19963.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Christ Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 191, Milford, DE 19963.
