Kawartha Downs ready to race

by Heather MacKay

Fraserville, ON — Kawartha Downs will kick off its 2014 live racing season Saturday night (June 21) with a 7 p.m. post time. Patrons will receive free programs and a soft drink or water while they last.

The track will be collecting donations for a former Kawartha horseman, Bill Davis, who lost his entire stable including horses and equipment, in a barn fire earlier this month in B.C. Peterborough native Davis began his successful career at Kawartha Downs. Contributions will be accepted in the paddock and at the front entrance to the facility.

A solid card of 10 races will help Kawartha’s fans, horse people and staff welcome in Summer and an exciting season of racing at the Fraserville, Ontario, five-eighths-mile oval. The track is scheduled to operate every Saturday evening from June 21 to Oct. 25 (with the exception of Sept. 20).
