Elizabeth Holl Brandt, 93, dies

Columbus, OH — Elizabeth Holl “Betty” Brandt, 93, of Logan, Ohio, died June 8, 2014, at her residence. She was able to spend her final years at home due to the care of her granddaughter, Tina.

Mrs. Brandt was born Dec. 24, 1920, in Logan, daughter of the late Barton A. and Grace Sparnon Holl. She was the widow of the late Richard Shaw Brandt.

Mrs. Brandt and her husband were partners in the former Dick Brandt Racing Stable and she was also employed at the former Brandt’s Restaurant. In the early years of World War II, she worked at the Plum Brook Ordinance Plant in Sandusky.

She was a member of the board of directors of The Logan Clay Products Company and was a member of the board of trustees of The Logan-Holl Foundation. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Logan, the Bookless Book Club, the Sulky Sweeties, the United States Trotting Association and the Ohio Harness Horsemen’s Association. She was the recipient of the Lady Pace Award at the Little Brown Jug and was a member of the Delta Theta Tau sorority.

Mrs. Brandt is survived by her son, Dick (Connie); grandchildren, Stephanie (Ron) Taddeo, Doug (Joanna) and Rudy (Tina); and great grandchildren, Zoe, Max, Owen and Aaron. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Beth Ann; and brothers, Barton S. Holl and Richard H. Holl.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday (June 13) in the Cardaras Funeral Home, 183 E. Second St., Logan, with Rev. Larry Hoffmann officiating. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Logan. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday (June 12) from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.
