Krivelin and Banca win GSY series races at Tioga

Nichols, NY — Tioga Downs hosted two divisions of the GSY trotting series on Saturday (June 7).

Top amateur driver Robert Krivelin won another race in the opening division. With a lot of action taking place on the front end, Krivelin was patient, sitting Permanent Joy a few lengths off the lead, was third over and fifth at the top of the stretch. He got up in the final strides to win by just over a length in 1:59.3. It was his third win in the series and put him in the lead for most points (59). Mike Mitchell, aboard BL Class Act, had a tough outside journey for most of the race to finish a game second. Buckeye Man, the favorite with Steve Oldford in the bike, finished third.

The second division of the seventh leg of this series was won by Hardrockenjessica, driven to victory by Monica Banca in 1:59.4. She was shuffled back to sixth at the half and then made a nice three-wide move just before the three-quarter pole to secure the lead and the victory by just over a length. Matt Zuccarello, aboard Dreamnwillie, was a hard-charging second, after being blind-switched just before the three-quarter pole. Ipo Blue Chip with Steve Oldford in the bike finished third.

The eighth and last leg before the final takes place next Sunday at Harrah’s Philadelphia. The final will take place the following Friday (June 20) at the Meadowlands.
