Pocono to offer consolation for Ben Franklin Pace

from Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs Race Office

Wilkes-Barre, PA — After discussions with the Pennsylvania Harness Horsemen’s Association, it has been decided that the 2014 Ben Franklin will include a $75,000 consolation if there are enough entries for the Free For All Pace eliminations on Saturday (June 21) at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs to warrant it.

The final sustaining payment for the early closing event is due on May 15. Horses may also be supplemented by paying $30,000 plus the entrance fee at the time of entry for the eliminations.

The $75,000 Franklin consolation, along with the $500,000 Ben Franklin final, will be part of the Sun Stakes Saturday racing card. That night will also feature the $500,000 Earl Beal, Jr. Memorial 3-year-old open trot, the $500,000 Max Hempt Memorial 3-year-old colt and gelding pace and the $300,000 James Lynch Memorial 3-year-old filly pace.
