Robert Dermyer, 75, dies

Columbus, OH — Robert Dale Dermyer, 75, died Feb. 17, 2014, at the University of Michigan Hospital.

Mr. Dermyer was a USTA member and over the past 50 years he owned and raced many Standardbreds on the Michigan and Northern Ohio circuit.

He was born Nov. 5, 1938, in Tecumseh to Frederick and Ruth (Mattis) Dermyer. Mr. Dermyer served in the U.S. Navy. On Feb. 16, 1957, he was united in marriage to Patricia Keifer in Holly Springs, Miss.

He made many friends through his business, The Maumee Company. He dearly loved his family and enjoyed golfing, horse racing and gambling.

In addition to his wife of 57 years, Patricia, he is survived by a son, Robert Jr.; daughter, Stephanie (Brian) Parsons; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brothers, Mike, Ed, Fred and John; and sisters, Freida, Anita, Joan and Marti. He was preceded in death by a son, Torin; and a brother, Roldon “Don.”

The Funeral Liturgy will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday (Feb. 20) at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. David Hudgins as celebrant. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday (Feb. 19) at the Anderson Funeral Home, Adrian. Visitation will also be held on Thursday, from 9 to 9:45 a.m., at St. Joseph Catholic Church, where a Family Prayer Service will be held at 9:45 a.m. followed by Mass at 10 a.m.
