NJRC releases equine drug test stats

Freehold, NJ — The New Jersey Racing Commission released a summary of statistics pertaining to their 2013 equine drug testing program at Wednesday’s (Jan. 15) regularly scheduled meeting.

Testing was done on 28,581 samples collected, of which 21,259 were from Standardbred horses. There were 31 positives, and no breakdown was provided as to the breed of the horses with positive results.

Of the 28,581 samples tested, out of competition regarding EPO was done on 82 horses with no positive results. Blood samples for TCO2 were done on 3,758 samples with zero positive tests resulting.
