Robert Kauffman, 80, dies

Columbus, OH — Robert A. “Bob” Kauffman, 80, of New Albany, Ohio, died Nov. 4, 2013.

Mr. Kauffman was born and raised in Columbus, the son of the late Albert and Marie Kauffman. He graduated from Columbus Aquinas College High School, Class of 1952, where he played football and golf, and then attended The Ohio State University.

He owned, operated and eventually retired from ElectoSonics, a division of AiRadio, Corp. He had a brilliant mind and was a very successful businessman who was elected Aviation Entrepreneur of the Year and was awarded the Aircraft Aviation Electronics Association Lifetime Achievement Award in 2001.

Mr. Kauffman was also the owner of Chandelle Farms in Baltimore, Ohio. He was a longtime member and past president of the Ohio Harness Horsemen’s Association. He owned and bred countless champion and record holding Standardbreds, one of which was Hez Striking, an Ohio Triple Crown winner.

He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Marianne; children, Cheryl Ann DeWitt, Barbara Joyce (Kevin) Jonard and Meredith (Adam) Roslovic; eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren; brothers, Ronald P. (Linda) and Richard P. (Sharon); dear friend, Betty Stanley; and many other extended family members and friends. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sons, Albert Christopher and Scott Allen Michael.

The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday (Nov. 7) at Schoedinger Northeast Chapel, 1051 E. Johnstown Rd., where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday (Nov. 8). Father Ryan Schmit, officiating. Entombment at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Lockbourne.
