London, ON — Perhaps it was a Halloween omen when Monster In Law crossed the wire first in Monday afternoon’s ninth race at The Raceway at Western Fair District, giving driver Trevor Henry career win number 5,000.

Trevor Henry is congratulated in the winner’s circle after his 5,000th career win.

The 8-year-old gelding was pointed to the front from the outside post seven and, once on the lead, did not look back in posting a 1:55.3 score — his 31st career win.

Henry entered the afternoon program needing four wins to reach the mark and kicked off his big day in the opener with trotter Here’s The Magic in 2:00.2. He clicked again with Andro Madi in the third and then Count Strike in the fifth, setting the stage for the milestone victory.

The Arthur resident, who represented Canada this past summer at the World Driving Championships in France, has now surpassed 400 wins for the third time in the last four years and has topped C$2 million in purse winnings for the ninth consecutive season.

On the wagering side of things, the afternoon’s seventh race returned the largest Super Hi-5 payout of the meet so far. The winning combination of 1-5-9-4-3 payed $9,879.33 for a 20 cent ticket.

Racing returns to The Raceway on Tuesday afternoon with first post at 4:05 p.m. Free programs and live streaming video are available at www.westernfairdistrict.com.
