Harrington, DE — A $7,500 guaranteed Pick-4 pool (races three-six) will be a part of the Harrington Raceway Bobby Quillen Memorial program on Monday (Sept. 16).

As part of the USTA’s Strategic Wagering Program, the guarantee is being offered for the second straight year on Quillen final night.

The $223,500 Quillen final is slated 10th on the program as 9-year-old seemingly ageless pacer Foiled Again will attempt to reach the winner’s circle for a third time in Harrington’s signature race.

The Ron Burke-trainee’s path for another win will not come easily, however, and may come through his stablemate, Clear Vision. Foiled Again will start from outside post eight, while Clear Vision will start from post three. A 7-year-old son of Western Hanover, Clear Vision (2-1, Brett Miller) was a dominant winner in his elimination last week with a track record-equaling 1:49.2 triumph. The win equaled Betterthancheddar‘s time in last year’s Quillen final.

“This horse is as sharp as he’s been,” said an elated driver Brett Miller last week after the win. “The Burkes have this horse on his game right now and they deserve a lot of credit for that.”

Foiled Again (5-2, Yannick Gingras) also won his elimination in an effortless 1:49.4.

“This horse never seems to surprise me,” said driver Yannick Gingras of the richest pacer of all-time, Foiled Again. “He gives you everything he’s got every time. He’s had a lot of success down here in the past.”

Foiled Again will look to add to that healthy bankroll of more than $5.3 million. His resume also includes 71 lifetime wins.

A full field of eight will go postward in the event that includes some of the sport’s top older pacers. Half-mile regulars Mel Mara (5-1, Corey Callahan) and Sapphire City (6-1, Ross Wolfenden) will start from the inside posts. Locally stabled McErlean (8-1, Jim Morand) will start from post four. Dynamic Youth (10-1, Ron Pierce) was fourth behind Foiled Again in his elimination and will fire from post five. Millionaire pacer Heston Blue Chip (4-1, Tim Tetrick) drew post six and the third Burke-trained horse in the field, Escape The News (12-1, Matt Kakaley), drew post seven.

It is the richest field of Quillen entrants in its seven-year history, as the field is comprised of winners of nearly $11 million lifetime.

The race honors the memory of long-time Delaware legislator and racing supporter Bobby Quillen.

T-shirts (while supplies last) will be given away beginning at 5 p.m. and will be thrown into the grandstand after races eight and 11.
