Lindys Tru Grit was a 1:53.4 winner in the Simcoe at Mohawk.

Placed in fourth early, Lindys Tru Grit went after the leader High Bridge, who had taken the field to the half in :56.3, coming off the far turn. High Bridge still led after three-quarters in 1:25.4, but as the duo battled down the lane, Lindys Tru Grit, the 7-2 third choice, edged clear, getting to the wire a neck to the good in a career best 1:53.4. E L Rocket closed late for second, while High Bridge faded to third.

It was the fourth win in nine starts this year for the improving son of Cantab Hall-True Diva, after getting to the races only once as a juvenile. He entered the Simcoe off a win in the Zweig Consolation at Vernon Downs last week.

Trained by Frank Antonacci, Lindys Tru Grit paid $9.20, $4.20 and $2.90, combining with E L Rocket ($3.90, $2.40) for a $34.10 (1-8) exactor. A 1-8-2 (High Bridge, $2.20) triactor returned $99.
