GLADA drivers prepare for final two contests

by Patricia Miller, for the Great Lakes Amateur Drivers Association

Hazel Park, MI — With only two drives to go, Great Lakes Amateur Drivers Association members are running final tune-ups on their trotters and focusing on winning points toward the championship. Monday (Aug. 26) in race two at Hazel Park will prove vital to some driver’s quest for the season’s crown.

A full field of drivers is ready to take to the track and prove their skills and their horses’ speed. Richard Roach drew the lucky one hole driving the Jeff Pickvet trainee Rock N Martina; next out will be Mike Mitchell with Great Investment, trained by John Bangert. James McIlmurray drives his own Mulligan Bi from the three hole, and trainer June Du Russel’s Raceway’s Muscles will leave from four with Jerry Mihelich in the bike. Kelly Walker will light up the track from the five hole with previous winner Love Ignites, trained by Terry Tomlin, and club president Steve Oldford will help light his own way with his Striking Lightning from the six hole. Joe Cirasuola can see them all but one with his own Majestic View in seven, and out in the cool Michigan air, Maurice Goldschmidt will steer the Dixie Buter trainee Count The Cost.

Better head for the track and watch these final races with exciting amateur drivers in hot competition. It has been a fine summer of contests, and it’s not over yet.
