Pompano Beach, FL — Pompano Park’s stall application for the 2013-2014 racing season is now available online and features a stall rent reduction along with the announcement of a new Late Closing program.

Stall applications are due Aug. 30 for the meeting, which runs from Oct. 5, 2013 through May 17, 2014.

Stall rent has been reduced to $100 per month per stall — including yearlings — payable on a monthly basis.

John Yinger, Director of Racing, said the reduction is one of several programs which should significantly and positively impact our trainers and owners this season.

“The new stall rent policy should make it much more palatable and will give horsemen and women a chance to get some purse money under their belts without the strain of a $900 bill — last season’s rent — staring them in the face right at the start.

“In addition, Racing Secretary Greg DeFrank is working on several Late Closing events encompassing several classes from claiming events to conditioned events; plus, we are working to ‘bump’ our overnight purse structure, as well.

“Details of the Late Closing program should be available within the next few weeks.”
