Herbert Colburn, Jr., 75, dies

Columbus, OH — Herbert “Herb” Colburn, Jr., 75, of Clarksburg, Ohio, died July 29, 2013, at Adena Regional Medical Center.

He was born on Feb. 18, 1938, in Ross County, the son of the late Herbert Sr. and Emma Seymour Colburn. He married the former Deborah Wilburn on Dec. 31, 1980.

Mr. Colburn retired as a self employed concrete finisher. He was currently serving as a Deerfield Township Trustee, a position he held for 28 years. He also had volunteered with the Deerfield Township Fire Department, was a former 4-H advisor and enjoyed the time with his grandchildren working with their 4-H projects. He was also a livestock buyer at the Ross County Junior Fair sale each year.

He was a past USTA member and his family had been involved in harness racing for more than 20 years, actively racing at the Ohio fairs and raceways.

He was a member of the Moose Lodge 2440, Circleville.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Sabrina (Joe Trapp), Leiane Case, Brad (Valerie) Wilburn and Heath (Heidi); grandchildren, Ashley Kempton (Richard Browning), Kasie Redman, Braden Wilburn, Garrett Wilburn, Halyn and Hadley; great- grandchildren, Caleb Browning, Brailynn Browning and Bentley Haller; sisters, Nellie Zimmerman, Norma Williams, JoAnn King and Albie Gallaugher; sister-in-law, Alberta; and brother-in-law, Danny Rawlings. He was preceded in death by infant twins; step daughter, Mandy; sister, Linda Sue Rawlings; and brother, Floyd.

Funeral service will be held on Thursday (Aug. 1) at 11 a.m. at Ebright Funeral Home, Frankfort. Burial will follow in Brown’s Chapel Cemetery, Clarksburg. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday (July 31) from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
