Sun Stakes elims Saturday at Pocono

Wilkes-Barre, PA — The Sun Stakes Saturday eliminations will be held at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs on Saturday, June 22, and according to Race Secretary Rick Kane, the box for entries closes at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, June 18.

Featured elimination races set for Saturday, June 22 are the $500,000G Ben Franklin Free For All Pace; the $500,000G Max Hempt Memorial for 3-Year-Old Colts and Geldings; the $300,000G James Lynch Memorial for 3-Year-Old Fillies; and the $500,000G Earl Beal, Jr. Memorial 3-Year-Old Open Trot.

Post Time for the eliminations and the race card on Saturday, June 22, is 6:30 p.m. Sun Stakes Saturday, featuring all four of those prestigious races, is set for Saturday, June 29, and post time is 6:30 p.m.

Later this summer, Super Stakes Saturday will be held at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs, with the track hosting, for the first time, the Battle of the Brandywine; the Colonial Trot; and the Valley Forge. That night of superstar racing will be Saturday, August 17.

Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs will be hosting the Breeders Crown on Saturday, October 19. Post Time will be announced for this historic night, which will feature all 12 races in one evening at the track.
