Hugadragon gets fourth straight in Meadows feature

Washington, PA — Undeterred by post nine, Hugadragon rushed to the lead for Dave Palone, got it just before the quarter and went on to an easy victory — his fourth straight — in Tuesday’s $22,500 Winners Over $10,000 Life/Preferred Handicap Pace at The Meadows.

Although Hugadragon had to work hard to wrestle the early lead from Huxley, he reached the half in :56.3 and had plenty left to thwart the first-over bid of Pop Cop. Hugadragon prevailed in 1:51.1, a length better than Pair A Dice, with Western Churchill third.

Ron Burke trains Hugadragon, a homebred 5-year-old Dragon Again-Hip Huggers gelding who extended his career bankroll to $917,783, for Burke Racing Stable.

Northfield Park
Button Fly paced home for his third straight win Tuesday in Northfield Park’s eighth race. The sophomore is owned by Gerald Mijal. Trainer Billy Farmer returned Robert Dinning to the sulky after he won with the horse last week. Ronnie Wrenn, Jr. was aboard for the first win in the trio of successes. Button Fly began from post seven and sustained a tough first-over bid to secure a neck victory over Mach Force One (Kurt Sugg). The mile clocking was 1:57.1. Tuesday’s triumph increased Button Fly’s (Lis Mara-Earhart Hanover) lifetime wins tally to five and his career earnings to $10,232. He paid $9.40 to win.
