The April 15 deadline is drawing near for many stakes payments. Below are a list of notices that have been submitted to the USTA Newsroom.

Reminder of WEG’s April 15 stakes payments

Toronto, ON — Woodbine Entertainment Group would like to remind all owners, horsemen and women, that Monday (April 15) is the deadline for sustaining payments which are due for the circuit’s major stakes events.

Sustaining payments for Delaware events due April 15

Delaware, OH — Sustaining payments for the Winbak Farm Pace (Older Pace), the Ohio Breeders Championships (Ohio-bred 2- and 3-year-olds) and the Delaware Open Series (2- and 3-year-olds) are due by April 15.

The 2013 Delaware Grand Circuit meet opens Sunday (Sept. 15) and will continue on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. There will be no racing on Monday (Sept. 16).

Ohio Sires Stakes sustaining payments due Monday

Columbus, OH — This year promises to be a lucrative season for owners of Ohio Sires Stakes participants as harness racing is enjoying a renaissance in the Buckeye State. Owners and trainers should remember that the deadline for sustaining payments on Ohio Sires Stakes events is Monday (April 15).

Nominations closed for the 2013 series on Feb. 15 and horses must be sustained with the April 15 payment to maintain eligibility.

The 2013 Ohio Sires Stakes series begins on May 3 at Lebanon Raceway when the sophomore fillies do battle while the 3-year-old males are in the spotlight the following night at Lebanon. The series includes races at Northfield Park, Raceway Park and Scioto Downs and culminates on Saturday (Sept. 7) with Ohio Super Night, conducted at Scioto Downs.

Sustaining payments in many other important Ohio events for 2013 are also due on April 15. Owners and trainers should check stakes conditions for complete details.

Sustaining payments due for Meadowlands races

East Rutherford, NJ — The following Meadowlands races require an April 15 sustaining payment to continue eligibility.

Cutler Memorial; Del Miller Memorial; Golden Girls; Lady Liberty; Meadowlands FFA Pacing Championship; Meadowlands FFA Trotting Championship; Meadowlands Pace; Merrie Annabelle; Mistletoe Shalee; Nat Ray (John Cashman, Jr. Memorial); Peter Haughton Memorial; Stanley Dancer Memorial; U.S. Pacing Championship; and William R. Sustaining payments due for Tioga and Vernon races

Nichols, NY — The sustaining payments for the 2013 Kindergarten Trotting Classic, Artiscape, Credit Winner, Miss Versatility, Muscle Hill and Roll With Joe (formerly known as the Bettor’s Delight) are due by April 15.

Late Closer payments due at Scioto Downs

Columbus, OH — Scioto Downs Racino will open its doors for live racing Wednesday (May 8) and nominations for the meet’s first late closers are due Monday (April 15).

The Buckeye Lake Pace (fillies and mares) and Buckeye State Pace (stallions and geldings) are for Ohio owned 3- and 4-year-olds that are non-winners of two pari-mutuel races lifetime (Ohio sired non-winners of three) or $15,000 lifetime through April 1.

The High Street Pace is for winners of one but not more than three pari-mutuel races lifetime (mares four races) or $17,500 lifetime as of April 1, to be claimed for $20,000 (with allowances).

All three late closers have an estimated $15,000 final.

Payments due for several Hambletonian Society Stakes

Cranbury, NJ —April sustaining and nominating payments for Hambletonian Society stakes are due Monday, April 15, and per USTA Rule 12 section 4, must be postmarked by midnight on Tuesday, April 16.

With the exception of the Bobby Quillen Memorial Pace at Harrington Raceway, the only payments due on April 15 are those that needed previous payments in March.

Eligibility lists for races that had a final payment on February or March 15, 2013 are posted on the website. Race conditions, payment forms and much more information is now available online. For additional information call the Society offices at (609) 371-2211.

Fees due April 15 for Charles and Helen Smith stakes

Manalapan, NJ — The second sustaining payment of $300 for the Charles and Helen Smith trots, sponsored by the Standardbred Breeders and Owners Association of New Jersey, is due by April 15.

The $80,000 (est.) Charles Smith for 3-year-old New Jersey-sired trotting colts on Sept. 20 (elims on Sept. 13) and its filly companion event, the $60,000 (est.) Helen Smith on Sept. 6 (elims on August 30) will both be contested at Freehold Raceway.

Payments should be in the form of checks or money orders, in US funds, made out to SBOANJ and sent to 64 Business Route 33, Manalapan, NJ 07726.

NJSS sustaining payments due April 15

Trenton, NJ — April 15 is the last chance for New Jersey-sired 2- and 3-year-old pacers and trotters to be kept eligible to all 2013 New Jersey Sire Stakes pari-mutuel racing programs.

The NJSS Premier Division is scheduled to begin in May for 3-year-olds at the Meadowlands. The 2-year-old Premier Division will start in late June. The Green Acres Division for 2- and 3-year-olds will take place from August through October at Freehold Raceway.

Horse owners are reminded that the April 15 second sustaining payments for the Premier Division this year are $500 for both 2- and 3-year-olds. Also due are $150 Green Acres Division payments for 2-and 3-year-olds. The second sustaining payments must be made in order to keep horses eligible for all 2013 NJSS races.

Horse owners are encouraged to use certified mail and no billing notices will be sent and no late payments will be accepted. Checks should be made payable in U. S. funds to NJSS, P.O. Box 330, Trenton, NJ 08625.

Molson Pace/City of London nominations due April 15

London, ON — The Raceway at Western Fair District wishes to advise horse people that the nomination deadline for this year’s Molson Pace and the City of London series is coming up on April 15.

This year’s Molson Pace will feature C$20,000 eliminations on May 24 and a C$200,000 (guaranteed) final the following week on May 31 (closing night).

“We’re very pleased that the Molson Pace will remain as our signature event on closing night,” said Racing and Gaming Manager Ian Fleming. “It has grown in stature over the years and maintaining it at this purse level will ensure another top field this year.”

Foiled Again, the richest pacer in history, is the two-time defending champion in the event and is expected to be back for a shot at the three-peat this season.
