Machman won Saturday’s Open Pace at Buffalo Raceway in 1:56 for driver Billy Dobson.

Machman ($6.80), driven by Billy Dobson, settled in second as the favorite and eventual third place finisher Cam Patch (Dan Noble) cut all the fractions in the race, :28.1, :58.1, and 1:27. Getting a perfect pocket trip for most of the race Machman unleashed a :28.4 last quarter-mile, which put him 1-1/2 lengths ahead of second place finisher Gooch’s Bad Boy (John Cummings, Jr.) at the finish line.

Trained by John Mungillo, the $5,500 share of the winning purse put Machman’s season’s earnings at $15,284, and $68,927 lifetime.

Dover Downs
Shark On Board overtook race favorite Kenzie’s Beach Boy in the stretch to score a 1:53.3 triumph in the Saturday afternoon $10,000 3,4&5-year-old feature pace during occasional snow-flurries at Dover Downs on Feb. 16. After two straight front-pacing second place finishes losing by a neck each time, trainer-driver Frank Milby elected to race Shark On Board from-off-the-pace and it worked out successfully for his first win of 2013. Milby sat second behind the popular-choice Kenzie’s Beach Boy (Ross Wolfenden) and then pulled to the outside at the top of the stretch to rush past the leader by mid-stretch on the way to victory. Irwin Samelman, a long-time Milby family patron, owns the 4-year-old altered son of Cam’s Card Shark-Cannae Peach. Avanza (Brad Hanners) was the third finisher.
