Racing resumes on foggy Monday at Yonkers

Yonkers, NY — After losing the last two scheduled programs to Mother Nature, Yonkers Raceway was back at it Monday night, though no one would blame you if you asked for independent confirmation.

Horses head to the post on a foggy Monday at Yonkers.

Rain and warmer temperatures throughout the day in the greater New York area resulted in fog shrouding the Westchester oval for much of the evening. Thus, the jobs of track announcer John Hernan and track photographer Tom Berg were not for the squeamish.

The dozen races went off without incident, with leading driver Brian Sears, Jason Bartlett, George Brennan and Matt Kakaley each winning twice.

The Raceway’s five night per week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday) live schedule continues. First post for all programs remains at 7:10 p.m. Evening simulcasting accompanies all live programs, with afternoon simulcasting available around the NYRA schedule (which resumes Friday).
