Alexachase came from off the pace to win Monday’s mares open handicap at Dover Downs in 1:52.4

With Corey Callahan and Monocromatic cutting out the pace and race favorite Southwind Jazmin and Tim Tetrick challenging on the outside, Bret Brittingham sent Alexachase three-wide heading into the final turn and the Bettor’s Delight-Jet Away 5-year-old stormed past the leaders and rolled down the lane to up her 2013 record to two-wins and two-seconds in six starts. Don Brittingham conditions Alexachase for owners Johnny and Kimberley Waite. She has now banked $31,000 this year and $259,934 lifetime. Monocromatic finished second in front of Mystra driven by Brad Hanners, third ending her win streak at three.

In the $18,500 Winners-Over sub feature Eric Carlson won his second on the card directing Lorrie Please to a 1:52.4 victory overtaking favorite Chaney Lady (Tim Tetrick) in deep stretch. Mike Hall of the Doug Lewis Stable trains the daughter of Western Ideal-National Gallery for Dave Sheib, Allen and Ira Kaplan. The win was the first of the season for the career winner of $298,995.

The Meadows
Despite contesting a hot 26.4 opening quarter, Do Me Honor had enough left late to capture Monday’s $18,000 Filly & Mare Not Listed Preferred/Preferred Handicap Pace at The Meadows — her fourth victory in the last five starts. Do Me Honor dueled with Tremor Hanover for the early lead, briefly yielding to the pocket before Aaron Merriman had her out and moving again at the quarter. The 5-year-old Cheyenne Rei-Do Me Right mare thwarted the first-over challenge of Red Star Hottie and survived the late rush of Ole Miss, who fell 1/2 length short in finishing second. Ideal Treasure was third in the 1:54.1 mile. Bill Bercury trains and owns Do Me Honor, who now boasts $268,088 in career earnings. Dave Palone drove five winners and Eric Ledford three on the 16-race card.
