Speculative Edge wins Sunday feature at Dover

Dover, DE — Speculative Edge made it two wins in-a-row scoring a 1:52.2 victory in the $11,000 Male pace feature Sunday, Dec. 16 at Dover Downs.

A big December continued for trainer Leigh Nichol, of the Tyler Raymer Stable, as she conditioned her sixth winner of the month in 11 starts. Vic Kirby drove the Bettor’s Delight-Go Abby Go 5-year-old to his third win of 2012. Michelle and Albert Crawford own the winner. Cracker Pullet (Tim Tetrick) finished second with Chipoffablueblock (Jim Morand) the show finisher.

Mike Rossi, a one-time track leading driver, who has been idle for a few years, returned to the sulky and piloted Smackdown Brown to a lifetime mark of 1:57.1 at odds of 70-1, for the largest $2 payoff of the meet. Rossi drove the Cancun Hanover-Daisy gelding to a come-from-behind victory, the second of the season for owners Linda MacDonald and Bill Stephenson. Night School (Ross Wolfenden) appeared on the way to a win until Smackdown Brown flew past nearing the finish line. JD An Parker (George Dennis) was third.

The meets top two winning drivers, Corey Callahan, the leader, and runner-up Ross Wolfenden, each recorded three wins.
